OUR MISSION: Teaching what counts

We strive to improve English language education in Tula region and provide equal opportunities for continuous professional development of all English teachers.

OUR OBJECTIVES:

T-talented: informing EL teachers of novel ideas and resources, sharing insights and experiences;

U-united: encouraging collaboration of EL teachers, researchers and administrators at all levels of education;

E-enthusiastic: organizing conferences, workshops, EL contests, seminars to establish a supporting environment for professional development and networking;

L-loving: creating and strengthening mutually beneficial relationships with other EFL professional organizations in the Russian Federation and different parts of the world;

T-thriving: enhancing teaching English as a global language and socially responsible teaching practices;

A-accomplished: promoting best innovative practices in the field of EFL teaching, methodology and assessment

PROJECTS:

-          Fostering Tolerance and Cultural Awareness Through English Language Teaching (ELT) (2012-2014), NATE project

    The project focuses on the creation of guidelines for school teachers and teacher trainers as well as on development curriculum and digital teaching materials for elementary, middle and high school EFL students.  EL environment is ideal for strengthening the appreciation of tolerance, non-violence, for developing skills in resisting stereotypic attitude to all who are different. A resource with existing materials has been created - http://toleranceefl.wikispaces.com/  as well as Facebook group for sharing links and resources - EFL&Tolerance.

-          American and Russian Best Practices in Standardized Testing in English (2011-2012), NATE project - volunteer alumni project on DVD-rom development. The project focuses on sharing expertise knowledge on testing with EFL teachers in Russia and on busting the myths connected with the Russian National Exam

-          Bringing English Teachers Together to Promote Tolerance in the Language Classroom (2011 -2012) - within the project we developed materials for teaching tolerance, conducted workshops for teachers and coordinated experimental groups using the materials in Tula region.

-          Using Web Tools in Teaching English (2011-2013) - Research in Web tools and EFL online resources, trainings and workshops, developing teaching materials “Internet in teaching English: new perspectives and possibilities”

  • Annual scientific and practical conference “Teaching Language and Culture”

  • General English courses in Dublin University (Ireland)
  • Annual round-table discussion on EGE preparation
