The 20th Jubilee NATE-Russia International Conference «Festival of Teaching, Festival of NATE», Voronezh, April 23 – 26, 2014

The 20th Jubilee NATE-Russia International conference «Festival of Teaching, Festival of NATE» was held in Voronezh at the end of April 2014.

Conference content areas covered the traditional ones: Research in Language Theories and Practices, New Trends in Teaching English at Universities, Assessment and Testing, Developing Intercultural Competence, Computer Assisted Language Learning, Developing Translator’s Competence, Pre-service and In-service Teacher Training, Innovations in Teaching English at Schools, as well as 2 quite new: Integrating Basic and Additional Language Programs and Making Teaching a Festival.

The conference included 2 plenary sessions, 34 workshops and round-table discussions, 120 Special Interest sections presentations, ELT resources exhibition and a great number of social events.

About 400 professionals  participated in the conference this year.

To meet the motto of the conference each conference day was devoted to a certain kind of festival. Thus, the first day with its Opening Reception and celebration of the 20th anniversary of NATE was proclaimed Festival of NATE Day, the second day, dedicated to celebration of the 20th anniversary of establishing the English Language Office in Moscow was announced Festival of ELO Day, while the last conference day with the Prizes-for-all Lottery and performance of the “The Story of Romeo and Juliette” by the English Student Art Studio of Voronezh State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering was declared Festival of Teachers Day.

According to the conference participants opinions the Jubilee NATE conference was a success and fully corresponded to its motto.
